There is just something so very special about the Darlington House in La Jolla, Ca. It’s obvious why it has become one of the most sought-after venues at La Jolla Shores. It’s posh in the way you’d expect but you also feel like you are in someone’s home and you are their honored guest.
Vanessa and John got married in the Jewish tradition (John’s family is Jewish) and their wedding was attended by the closest friends and family. Vanessa is half-Argentinian and so many of her family members did not speak English. They were so happy when I was able to direct in Spanish and English simultaneously. So, it very quickly turned into a posh but friendly, bi-lingual and bi-cultural wedding. Perfect.
Everything was proper and pristine. You felt a sense of propriety and politeness, yet the atmosphere was also very light-hearted and well, full of love.
We knew going in that we wanted to steal away (you can take a secret access road) to the beach nearby and we headed that way for some photos before coming back to the reception.
I should mention that the way this wedding happened for me was through the Maid of Honor, who was Vanessa’s sister. She had been a bridesmaid at another wedding I shot in the east coast and told her sister she had to book me. To me there is no better compliment or endorsement.
